In the heat of 1995, one man had an idea that would revolutionize the way athletes perform. His idea revolved around a t-shirt made from the perfect duo of fabric and fit, designed specifically to wick away sweat to keep athletes cool and dry. This performance-driven design would soon change the landscape of the athletic apparel industry entirely, but in order to turn his idea into reality, he had to solve the biggest question of how to turn his design into a tangible product.

The thinker needed to become the doer.

The thinker was Kevin Plank and the idea became Under Armour.

Long before Under Armour grew into a multi-billion-dollar company with over 11,000 employees worldwide, it rose from humble beginnings in the basement of Kevin’s grandmother’s Washington D.C. row-house where a few prototype t-shirts were sewn together by a group of friends.

20 years later, that original idea is still spawning thousands of new ideas every day. Brewing in studio apartments and two-car garages, these ideas are cultivated by our nation of thinkers and doers, innovators and entrepreneurs. It is for this nation that City Garage exists – a place where good ideas become great, where basement projects become global titans. City Garage is Baltimore’s space for the entrepreneurial community to gather, collaborate and succeed.

At City Garage, we turn thinkers into doers and here, we are just getting started.
